With the help of Safeway markets in Tucson, the Originals were able to purchase and deliver 200, 20-24 pound turkeys to the Community Foodbank last week. The turkeys are part of generous donations from all over our community to help offset the shortage of food at the Foodbank for the holidays. Colette Landeen, Executive Director of the Tucson Originals made the official presentation at Original purveyor member Tucson Appliance on Thursday, Dec. 15th (see photo).
Every year, the Originals partner with Barnes and Noble in a special holiday book drive to fill the library and book carts for the children who are patients at Diamond Children’s at University of Arizona Medical Center. When kids are hospitalized, they are given books as they request them and get to take them home when discharged…making a good supply of age appropriate books, a year round need. Beating all records, sales are over 4000 and counting for this year. There is still time to take part in this great effort. Visit either location of Barnes and Noble in Tucson now through December 31st. When you purchase a children’s book, you will receive a certificate good for 10% off your next meal at participating Tucson Original restaurants.
